My first writing project was to write five similes pertaining to the topic of Halloween. A simile compares two different things using like or as. Here are some that I wrote.

The dark scary hard haunted house is as scary as a witch.

The black pointy dark haunted house is as hard as a rock.

The gray haunted house was as dark as night.

The gray haunted house was as fat as a pumpkin.

The big fat gray hard spooky haunted house was as haunted as a graveyard.

Columbia flew in 1981.
Columbia was destroyed over east Texas on it’s landing decent to Kennedy Space Center on February 1, 2003 at 8:59 A. M.
Atlantis was delivered by Kennedy Space Center in April 1985.
The total cost of a space shuttle program is around $150 - $175 billion dollars.
They also call Columbia the Penguin.

A baby female horse is called a filly.

A baby boy horse is called a colt.

Most foals are born at night.

There are about 75 million horses in the world.

Horses lie down only about 43.5 minutes a day.

No two horses are identical.

A horse has approximately 205 bones.

Horses sleep longer in summer than in winter.

A horse’s heart weighs nine pounds.

A horse is able to drink 10 gallons of water per day.

A young baby African honey badger is called a kit, and a grown female is called a sow.

A grown adult male badger can stand as high as 30 cm and they are called a boar.

Their skin is very thick and rubbery, to defend themselves from bites.

African honey badgers are able to catch the most deadliest and poisonous of snakes, and eat them.

The badgers follow honey guides to lead them to honey and it was initially assigned to the badger group in the 1860’s and the species first appeared during the middle Pliocene in Asia.

Litters of 1-2 young babies are usually born and they stay with there mom’s 14-18.

Did you know baby honey badgers usually stay with their mothers until at least 14 months of age?

Did you know honey badgers can easily climb up trees and branches?

A female badger has a home range of 100-150 square km.

African honey badgers spray nasty smells, just like a skunk!

African honey badgers live to age 24 and there tail is about 20-30 cm.

The African honey badger can live in Africa and south, west Asia.

5.Compound African honey badgers can scare of a lion, like the African honey bee.

The scientific name for the African honey badger is mellivora capensis and a group of honey badgers is called a ‘cete’, colony or company.
