My first writing project was to write five similes pertaining to the topic of Halloween. A simile compares different things using like or as. Here are some that I wrote.
The pumpkin pie is as good as fresh picked oranges.

The orange pumpkin is as delicious as a piece of fresh pumpkin pie.

The round pumpkin is as round as a baseball.

The moldy pumpkin is as stinky as a rotten piece of pie.

The big pumpkin is as giant as a haunted house.


Learning Project-Alligator Gar



Alligator gars live in slow moving river.
An alligator gar is in the spatial family.
The largest alligator gar was just less than eight feet and weighed 215 pounds.
Alligator gars have two rows of teeth.
Alligator gars feed on a variety of prey includes blew crabs.


They are cool!
Alligator gars are big.
They have sharp teeth.
They are shiny.
They are dirty fish.

Only bull elk have antlers.

The elk breed in the fall every year.

The bull gather cows and calves in to small groups called harems.

The elk are smaller than moose.

Elk is one of the largest species of deer.

Elk are also called wapiti.

New born calves weigh 35 pounds.

Bull elk weigh 700 pounds.

Cow elk weigh 500 pounds.

In March the bulls shed their huge antlers.

Weasels are part of the mustela family.

Weasels have the ability to change their coat colors as per the season.

Male long tailed weasels are about 13 to 16 inches in length, and bigger than their female counterparts which are 11 to 14 inches in length.

Long tailed weasels are generally found at places which have a sizable rodent population and lots of water.

Small tailed weasels are excellent hunters.

Short tailed weasels are also known as stoat or ermine, and are small mammals with a furry body.

In case a person is bitten by a weasel, and he could die due to the poison if not given an antidote, a monkey secretion.

Did you know that the average weasel weight is 2.5 ounces!

Do weasel eat mice, rats, moles, small birds, bird’s egg, rabbits, and poultry?

Are male long tailed weasels about 13 to 16 inches in length?
